Marketing Strategies: Ad-Free Facebook Could Significantly Impact Company Sales

META, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, recently announced plans to launch an ad-free, paid version of its platforms in response to EU GDPR regulations. Marketing experts believe this could have a substantial impact on European business sales.

NOH Production strategists Mervi Pirhonen and Birgit Karus highlight that advertising on META platforms is crucial for sales across all sectors. The ability to target users based on interests is unmatched by other channels, making social media advertising highly effective. However, if users opt for the ad-free version, companies could see reduced revenue.

Karus doubts the viability of a $14 monthly fee for ad-free Facebook, suggesting European consumers may not prioritize it over other subscriptions like Netflix. Pirhonen adds that the free Facebook model is deeply ingrained in consumer behavior, making a shift challenging. They both foresee ongoing debates and potential gains for other channels amid the uncertainty.

NOH Production, a digital marketing agency specializing in social media ads, is a META Level 2 partner, serving businesses across Europe and the US.
